Attendance changes

Important information for Parents and Carers

From September 2015 the Government are changing the expectations of attendance. Currently the Government expect a child to attend at least 95% of the time and any any child whose attendance falls below 86% is termed a 'persistent absentee' and the school has a legal obligation to act. From September 2015 any child whose attendance is at 90% or below will be a 'persistent absentee'. This is a huge change and challenge and may mean that many more families have education welfare involvement.

Attendance is generally good at Coleman but lateness can also effect attendance levels. It is essential that from the first school day next year Tuesday 1st September 2015, children are attending school everyday and on time. If you do encounter problems getting your child to school, please contact the school office or Mrs Dulieu to provide support and advice.
