At Coleman we have three Year 1 classes:
1GI - Mrs Gandhi 1GR - Mrs Gardner 1L - Mrs Lawrence
Children from 1GI and 1GR have had the opportunity to attend reading club with their parents. Children have enjoyed receiving stickers each time they attend. 1GI had an enjoyable trip to St. Barnabus library and 1GR had a visit from a librarian where they listened to a story and made decorative snails. The children now have library cards so that they can borrow books from their local library. Children and parents from 1L have the opportunity to attend reading club from Tuesday 7th March.
Year One have produced some fantastic takeaway homework projects this term. Here is a sample of them.
Year One enjoyed a visit from Zoolab to support our topic on animals. The children learnt the names of some interesting animals, including a Giant African Millipede and a Corn Snake, and were able to classify them into groups. During the session the children had the opportunity to stroke and hold the animals.
Ambition week 1st-4th November 2016
Year One had a fun and enjoyable week. We were inspired to be like real artists! The children were mixed across the three classes to make splatter paintings in the style of Jackson Pollock, to create scgraffito in the style of Natalie Blake and to create some aboriginal art. For homework the children had to research and find out about an artist and to create some artwork in the style of that artist.
