At Coleman we have three Year 5 classes:

On Thursday, each year 5 class took part in various activities about Egypt led by a curator from a local museum.
The session began with a discussion about the River Nile and children were asked to find and place objects and places around a large floor model of the River Nile. We discussed the uses and importance of the River Nile as well as the geography of the area.
Next the children all became Egyptian Gods and all the children re-enacted a ceremony where it was decided whether a Pharaoh was to be inducted into the Gods.
The children were all then split into groups and had a turn at three different activities which included:
Bandaging up hands and fingers like a mummy.
Playing a real life Egyptian board game.
Placing miniature objects around a miniature model of the River Nile.
